How we got here
The Beginning — Freight Master I
Daybookpro began life in 1989 as Freight Master I, developed by London-based Genius Systems Ltd. The original system was created for the freight and haulage industry, laying the foundations for what would become DayBookPro.
First Commercial Deployment
Freight Master I launched as a commercial product. Its first customer was Watkins & Sole (W&S), a Heathrow-based haulier, with the initial system focused on automating invoicing and POD printing.
A New Company, A Continuing Vision
Genius Systems Ltd evolved into International On Line S.A., an Athens-based company founded by the same core founders and development team. Development of the freight management platform continued with an expanding international focus.
The Move to the Web
The system was completely rewritten as a native web application, opening access to customers, subcontractors and international shippers. It was built to support complex multi-depot operations and introduced trunking, multi-leg bookings, warehousing, tariff-based billing, automatic surcharges, EDI and extensive administrative automation.
Daybookpro Mobile
The iOS and Android Mobile companion introduced track & trace, driver manifests, electronic POB and POD signing, damage reports, SOS signals, driver and freight photography, vehicle inspections, and licence and skills recording.
The Connected Mobile Workforce
Mobile capabilities expanded with driver clock-in, seal management, GRN and CSD warehouse functions, voice and text messaging, and real-time booking allocations and acknowledgements.
The Connected Haulier Network
An exchange mechanism enabled bookings to be outsourced between different hauliers using Daybookpro, creating a tightly integrated network with real-time updates and fully audited processes. Automated freight screening and map-based route scheduling were also introduced.
Workflow & Intelligent Automation
A workflow engine, powerful rules engine and component-based low-code/no-code environment were introduced. Automated billing expanded to distance- and lane-based ULD and loose-freight costing, while customer-specific invoicing content enabled direct integration with airline accounting systems.
Warehouse Management
The Warehouse Management System evolved to support multi-depot location tracking, vehicle loading and unloading, and airway bill accumulation.
The AI Era
Artificial Intelligence was introduced into route planning and optimisation, handling multiple operational constraints. Automated booking entry from unstructured sources such as PDF documents was also introduced, further reducing manual administration.
